The Track 1/2 girls rehearse "Not for the Life of Me."
It was actually quite easy to transform into Miss Dorothy. Even though I practiced being a witch for months, being a character like Dorothy is a nice change. Miss Dorothy is a person who has always lived the rich life, but now wants to experience how the other half lives. To fulfill this dream, she becomes friends with Millie, who, as Millie says, is "broke, not poor." Unfortunately, she moves into a hotel that is owned by a person who kidnaps orphans, and since Miss Dorothy tells everyone that she's an orphan, she gets kidnapped. Ironically, just a few months ago, it was me who was kidnapping Dorothy!
The character’s appearances are different as well. Now that I play Miss Dorothy, my skin does not need to be painted green (Yay!). I also don’t need to wear black and bright green tights, and a huge witch hat. The only thing green in Miss Dorothy’s world is money. The Wicked Witch has a cold look to her. Miss Dorothy is physically cold because she forgets to wear a coat when going out. Though they are both entirely different people, the feeling of playing the role will always be exciting. Maybe the loud wicked witch laugh I practiced will help me sing Dorothy’s high notes. By: Jennifer Tran |
